We're excited to announce that our innovative phenology program ClimateWatch has been named as one of 13 recipients of Inspiring Australia Citizen Science Grants, encouraging community participation in science and technology.
ClimateWatch will build a network of citizen scientists across Australia gathering local, regional and national scale data on our nation's biological response to climate change. Using app based technology, Australians take images and record behavioural and geographical data of plant and animal species. Education resources will aid integration into schools and a network of walking trails will be established with partners across the country for community members to freely use. Data will be publicly available and visually displayed using cutting edge modelling techniques. ClimateWatch will enable development of adaptation and mitigation strategies to climate change, while simultaneously engaging Australians in climate action.
If you would like to get more involved with ClimateWatch, now is the best time to get in touch! Whether it’s to give us ideas on what you would like to see, help beta our new technology, or organise some events, we look forward to hearing from our ClimateWatch community.
